Chocolate Nut Butter Greek Yogurt Bowl with Berries

Greek yogurt bowl with berries, walnuts and a spoonful of chocolate nut butter

For a chocolate nut butter yogurt bowl, spoon 1 cup of plain Greek yogurt into a bowl, add 2 tablespoons of Dark Cocoa + Sea Salt macadamia & walnut butter and swirl it through with a few strokes. Top with 1/2 cup of mixed berries and 2 tablespoons of crushed walnuts. Five minutes, no cooking.

Why this works

Tangy Greek yogurt and dark chocolate are a natural match, and swirling (not stirring) keeps thick ribbons of nut butter in every bite. Berries bring juice and color, and crushed walnuts echo the walnuts already in the jar while adding crunch.

Quick facts

  • Serves 1
  • Prep 5 minutes, no cooking
  • 4 ingredients
  • Contains tree nuts and dairy (from the yogurt)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (225 g) plain Greek yogurt, whole milk or 2%
  • 2 tbsp (32 g) Dark Cocoa + Sea Salt macadamia & walnut butter, stirred well
  • 1/2 cup (about 75 g) mixed berries, such as raspberries, blueberries and sliced strawberries
  • 2 tbsp (15 g) walnuts, crushed
  • Optional: 1 tsp honey, a pinch of flaky salt

Steps

  1. Spoon the yogurt into a wide bowl and spread it into an even layer.
  2. If the nut butter is cold from the fridge, warm it for 10 seconds so it softens.
  3. Drop the nut butter onto the yogurt in 3 or 4 spoonfuls. Drag a spoon or butter knife through it 4 or 5 times to make ribbons. Stop before it blends in.
  4. Crush the walnuts by hand or under the flat side of a knife.
  5. Top with berries and walnuts, plus honey and flaky salt if you like. Eat right away.

Tips and variations

  • Toast the walnuts. Two to three minutes in a dry skillet makes them deeper and crunchier.
  • Drizzle instead of swirl: warm the nut butter for 15 seconds and pour it over the top.
  • Add granola for extra crunch, or sliced banana for more sweetness.
  • Meal prep: pack yogurt and nut butter in a jar, and keep the berries and walnuts separate until you eat.
  • Dairy-free: use a thick coconut or almond yogurt.

FAQ

Should I use plain or flavored Greek yogurt?

Plain. The nut butter brings plenty of flavor, and plain yogurt's tang balances the chocolate. Flavored yogurt tends to make the bowl too sweet.

How much protein is in this bowl?

It depends on your yogurt. A cup of plain Greek yogurt usually has around 20 g of protein, and 2 tbsp of our nut butter adds about 3 g. Check your yogurt's label for exact numbers.

Can I use frozen berries?

Yes. Thaw them for 10 minutes first, or let them sit on the yogurt while you make coffee.
